JAY SEBAG

Performing live at Catch Beach Club on 27th December 2019, Jay Sebag is a celebrated composer and singer with a distinctive voice that is said to have similarities to Justin Timberlake and George Michael.

He’s sung with big stars, including Eric Benet and Maroon 5, composed songs for famous musical artists that have sold millions, amongst them Japanese pop group Exile and French superstar Amel Bent, performed in clubs all over the world, and made live appearances on some impressive stages, including the Stade de France in front of 40,000 people.

Gospel Connection

Born in Paris, he showed an interest in music from very young, studying classical piano from the age of 7. He toured France with The American Gospel Connection, with Linda Lee Hopkins, and the famous French Gospel Pour 100 Voix choir, appearing in well-known venues, such as Cannes-Palais. Festivals and Paris Bercy.

Moving to Los Angeles to pursue his musical studies. It wasn’t long before he was writing songs and creating music with soul-funk musician Arno Lucas, (who wrote and performed with people like Stevie Wonder, Bette Midler, Joss Stone and John Legend), Doc Powell, (Luther Vandross, Aretha Franklin), and Land Richard (George Benson, Nathalie Cole).

In 2002 Jay premiered Soul Legend Isaac Hayes in Chicago, and soon after started working on a soul album project with Motown A & R Don Muhammad.

The Voice of Martin Solveig

Jay is most famously known as ‘The Voice of Martin Solveig’, travelling with him to performances all over the world, and co-writing hit songs for him, including ‘Rocking Music’, which ranked number 1 in the charts in a number of countries, including the UK, Italy, and Australia. In 2008, Jay joined the acclaimed party series known as ‘So, Happy In Paris’; created and presented by international DJ Michael Canitrot, and wrote the first big hit of Michael Canitrot’s producer career, a song called ‘Desire’ released on the leading London label, Defected Records.

Jay has released numerous songs and albums on Defected, with DJ Yass and Kerri Chandler’s on Grei Matter label, and worked with other labels, including Universal, Ministry Of Sound, Sony, and Avex.

In 2011 he joined forces with Syke ‘N’ Sugarstarr on a series of new songs and productions, and the wonderful ‘Like That Sound’ smashed the Musicweek Charts in the UK.

Over the next few years, Jay and released a funky-electro song, ‘Lonely’, on Pool-E Music with DJ Yass, he wrote songs with producer Rodney Hunter and Rasmus Faber, and for Amel Bent’s fifth album, ‘Instinct’; composed a song on the last solo album of Exile’s lead singer, Atsushi, and recorded a piano studio session for Martin Solveig’s fifth album.

Tuesday Unplugged

In 2014, Jay started hosting Tuesday Unplugged by Jay Sebag, in the famous Paris VIP lounge, La Gioia, with Jean-Roch. Likened to an intimate New York Style jam session, famous artists were invited each month, (Amel Bent, Laam, Gage, Baptiste Giabiconi) to sing with Jay on stage and allowed him to share his passion for live music, particularly Soul Music. In 2015, Jay took on the role of talent scout and began managing and writing songs for a talented young artist, Sasha Bem, which eventually led to them being signed to the famous Universal Music Capitole label.

Over the last few years Jay has done everything he is good at and enjoys; played to large audiences and small intimate gatherings all over the world, appeared at music festivals, been the guest at radio shows and sang live at Bagatelle.

He worked with Samuele Sam Sartini on ‘When the Sun Goes Down’, Sellor Sound and Natty Rico on ‘Let It Go’, German label Peppermint Jam, Sasha Bem II for ‘Alive’ and ‘Sur mon Etoile’, and Sarah Bis Perso, ‘Down This Way’. There’s plenty more we have missed out and more to come of course, full of energy there is no stopping this talented musician.

Catch him this December in Thailand. Jay Sebag, The Legendary Voice of Martin Solveig, is making appearances in Bangkok, Phuket, and Pattaya.
